Rogers County CHEF had the privilege to reenact an Oklahoma Land Run at the Reimer Farm this Spring. Folks were dressed in their finest 1889 clothing.

Every child loves a wagon ride...especially if it is drawn by real horses.

Students enjoyed a variety of activities, including demonstrations of how to make lye soap and butter making.

Homemade Lye SoapShakin' out the butter...

We played old-time games such as the sack race, egg toss and circle around the wagon games as well as horse shoes.

With the shot of the gun, our land race was off! With over 170 in attendance, the start was very dramatic. Many families claimed land. Only a couple of sooners where discovered - the Sheriff promptly disposed of them...

Sack RacesLand RUSH!

Mr. Reimer gave us a real cowboy roping demonstration. Individuals got their try afterwards.

Here, a couple of young cowboys showed us how to do the real thing, demonstrating a calf roping!
